Hosting Reviews Exposed – Webhostingstuff.com March 2011 top 25 list

For March 2011 there will not be any new hosting reviews there are no hosts that I have not reviewed on webhostingstuff.com’s top 25 for this month.  Which works to my advantage as I have had issues with Dell and Eset that have delayed me from posting this month, not to mention several other projects in the works (2 of which are just for hosting-reviews-exposed.com .  But that does not mean there is nothing to look at with this top 25 hosting reviews list.  Unlike last month, there are actually 25 hosts.   For this months post while it will only be one post, its more of a re-review of hosts that have contacted me or have had frequent updates on my previous posts.

Webhostingstuff.com is blocking me from looking at their hosting reviews

Its gotten really hard finding a friend some where around the world that is not being blocked after only one or two page clicks.  Still that does not mean that I am not able to look at webhostingstuff.com’s hosting reviews.   While I do enjoy encouraging paranoia with this company I am no longer going to mention where people are doing screen shots for me.  But if they are blocking me and many others, those that paid for so called advertising fees are not getting what they paid for.   But lets face it, if webhostingstuff.com was honest about their hosting reviews there would be no reason to block me or anyone.  They would not be afraid to let me and anyone else put their system to the test.

Hosting reviews for March 2011 on webhostingstuff.com 1 – 10

Arivixe.com number one host for March 2011 with webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/hosting-reviews/review-arvixe-is-arvixe-com-bad-host%C2%A0arvixe-sucks-complaints.html

When I first did a review about this company I did a short review because I found a disturbing trend where they were trolling any place that had negative hosting reviews from customers.  I tend to believe they were trolling my blog because of the person who wrote: “I’m not Arvand, and I’m not a fan of Arvixe”, despite the criticism of Arvand, there seemed to be alot of harsh critisim of the client complaint I highlighted.  I love how people that claim they are no way associated with this company, go on the attack of whatever negatively effects the company they are not part of.   Perhaps they would be willing to buy my Ocean front property here in Arizona.

One comment I missed with web-hosting-top.com hosting reviews:

“Hello,

I’m sorry that you feel we are a scam. Your site was attacked through a DDoS by your own visitors. We suggested that you identify the cause of this and remedy it through proper website management and you refused to work with us and blamed our systems for the fact that your site was getting attacked.

Our job is to protect our systems and make sure that all users on the server have a positive experience.

Therefore, your account was suspended and a full refund was sent back. … — arvixe.com representative”

Here are my thought on that:

1. How do they know it was the Visitors?
2. If it was the customers fault, why did they issue a refund?

It seems like they have discontinued their responses to negative feedback on hosting reviews after my first post.  But amazingly webhostingstuff.com is the only place to not have any negative hosting reviews.

Hostgator.com number two host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/unlimited-hosting/hostgator-bad-web-host-read-honest-hostgator-review.html

For some bizzare reason I have been accused of aiding this host for “google bombing with fake websites and prolifically self-aggrandizing” (http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2010/Oct/466 )with my first post on this company.  The author  does not respond to my emails, nor apparently did they bother to read my post.  I did not give Hostgator any positive hosting reviews.  If there ever was a host that I would not like, it would be this host.

Amazingly this month they have a negative hosting review to go with the rest of the hosting reviews on webhostingstuff.com this month.

Granted it only took a little more then a year to get a review on webhostingstuff.com.  But alot seems to be changing with webhostingstuff.com since I started doing monthly my own  hosting reviews.

Myhosting.com number three host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/myhosting.html

This site is back on the so called top 25 hosting reviews list.  Despite this its still averaging 3 out of 5 star approval on Webhostingstuff.com.

At this time I have received no responses on this host.

Site5.com number four host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/site5-sucks.html

At this time I have no feed back from anyone on this site, unlike Hostgator.com this site appears to get regular hosting reviews.

Lfchosting.com number five host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/lfc-hosting.html

This is a bit of an oddity.  The choose to contact me in regards to my review, and for some reason wordpress marked their comment as spam.  They later contacted me via email and I posted their comment as well as my response.  I made it clear that the reason that I only reviewed their company because they were dealing with one of many hosting reviews sites, webhostingstuff.com in particular whom I have a vested interest in exposing. The strange part is that for some time they had not been on the top 25 list, and when they had contacted me they were not on the list.  But a month after their comment and my response clearly indicating I only reviewed them because they bought advertising by webhostingstuff.com.  I have to wonder why they are back on this fake hosting reviews site.

Kvchosting.com number six host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/kvchosting.html

At this time I have no feed back from anyone on this site, unlike Hostgator.com this site appears to get regular hosting reviews.

Mochahost.com number seven host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/hosting-reviews/mochahost-com-is-the-worst-host-check-this-review-out-before-you-buy.html

When I first reviewed this host I have to say I was filled with a bit of disgust when I read one customer review that was later countered by someone at Mochahost.com decided to attack the customer by using their relgion against them.  At this point I have seen not postive feed back on my site.  But for that matter even though the negative feed back is strangly absent unlike other review sites like http://www.hostingsthatsuck.com/mochahost-sucks/

Where there is a disclaimer hidden far enough to still get affilate commisions:

“Updated: Due to the more recent negative comments and feedbacks from our visitors, we are now also recommending an alternative hosting plan byMyHosting.com. See below for their custom-fit packages priced from only $4.84 monthly! You pay for what you need and all packages come with cPanel and eCommerce-ready support. Our MyHosting review is as good, if not better than about the above webhost. If you have any doubt at all about the above web hosting service, get MyHosting instead. If you are asking for another webhost recommendation, MyHosting.com is your answer.“

Iweb.com number eight host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/hosting-reviews/iweb-technologies-inc-iwebs-com.html

I think the exchange on that post explains their philosophy on hosting reviews.  My satisfaction is that they remove the “since 1996” because of that post.

Omnis.com number nine host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/omnis-review-does-omnis-com-suck-omnis-web-hosting-review.html

At this time I have no feed back from anyone on this site, unlike Hostgator.com this site appears to get regular hosting reviews.

Scalahosting.com number ten host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/uncategorized/scalahosting-is-there-dirt-on-scalahosting-com.html

There have been no comments up this month.  Though I am not sure how “the claim of a website being deleted that might just have been a bad luck.” helps their case.

Hosting reviews for March 2011 on webhostingstuff.com 11 – 20

Hosthttp.net number eleven host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/hosthttp-net.html

2 months online yet no reviews anywhere.  You would think a host that has been deemed a top host would have some validity to its ranking.

Spacenets.com number twelve host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/spacenets-com.html

Another host that amazingly has been online for just a few months.  While they do not have alot of hosting reviews……. well they actually just had one review this month.

Hostek.com number thirteen host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/hostek.html

Ok there are reviews on my site, but the problem is the pro hostek.com hosting reviews did not leave valid contact emails or websites.  sites behind them don’t exist.

Condorhosting.com number fourteen host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/condorhosting.html

While there is one comment, it had not postive or negative feed back for this host.

Wooservers.com number sixteen host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/wooservers.html

This burstnet reseller was not too happy with me as you can read in the comments.  For some strange reason they expected me to delete, change, or not allow them to post comments.  But the one thing they did not do was explain the advertising fees that allows them to be at the top of a fake hosting reviews website.

Infiniti.net number seventeen host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/infinitie-net.html

Here is a host that thinks I have no right to write a review about them just because I never used them.  I doubt that webhostingstuff.com has used them.  Even with that said the reviews at webhostingstuff.com clearly do not back this host being a top 25 host when it has a 2 out of 5 star rating.   Honestly if I was Infiniti.net, I would stop paying for advertising atleast until I got the 2 star rating up to atleast 4 or 5.

Gigapros.com number eighteen host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

Unfortunatly at this point just a question on how to cancel their account.  I had hoped to get more comments then I have right now.

10looniehost.ca number twenty one host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/10looniehost-ca.html

Another host that does not have alot of hosting reviews, for that matter they only have one.  Interestingly enough it comes from a site thats 4 days younger then the review.

The host contacted me the same day I was working on their review.  But they never responded to my email to clarify any part of my review.

Layersevenhosting.com number twenty two host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/layersevenhosting.html

While I have no comments I thought it might be intresting if they have improved on their seo score since I did my review.  Its some what up it went from 3,871,793 to 1,538,214.  While brash.im there supposed seo expert site was at 1,936,294 and now its at 1,289,075.  You would think after 2.5 months with a claim of “rash is all about the white hat SEO and we’re pretty damn good at getting web presence for businesses. With 16 billion online searches every month, you need a bit of Brash about you.” they would have made some drastic climbs in their search engine ranking.  Not to mention not to buy advertising to get ranking in a fake hosting reviews website.  Still no reviews with webhostingstuff.com

Phastnet.com number twenty three host for March 2011 webhostingstuff.com

No comments at this time, and only one hosting review on a fake hosting reviews site.

There may not be any new hosts this month, but there is still little reasoning to why many of these hosts are in the top 25 based on their hosting reviews alone.

Nod32 – Eset: I no longer approve of this software

If your wondering why before today there is only one post for March 2011, you can blame Nod32 by Eset.com.  You can also blame dell.com but thats a post for another day. For 5 years now I have used and backed nod32, for that matter on any blog or site I had ads up for this anti-virus software.  I had even had an ad up on this site til this month. However the last 12 months have been hard to bear.  Just like this site, I have removed all eset’s ads and killed my partnership with their company.

Granted nod32 was not exactly a user friendly software, and more so a computer geeks software.  But until last year it was software I would put my name behind, and I made it a point that everyone of my staff had to have it on their machines.  I even installed Nod32 on my parents machines.

The first anti-virus I had ever gotten for a machine was from McAffee, or as me and my tech friends like to call it McCrappy.  If memory serves me correctly there were no updates on my first version.  I soon left them for the same month I got McAffee,  for Norton because I was having registry issues, so I got Norton Systemworks.  My big issue with their company for sometime was that I could not for example: Get my first copy of their software in June, and the next year buy their new version in April having my subscription extended to June of the next year.  Instead it was April of the next year.  Meaning it was not a good idea to buy software months before the end of a subscription.  Regardless of all the new features that were in the next years software.  Another thing I found annoying is that sometimes you had to wait on them to create an executable to remove hard to remove viruses.  What pushed me over the edge was 3 months after getting their latest version I had a major infection, and their software was unable to clean it.  However the 30 day trial of Nod32 was able to.  Which caused me to start buying their multi pc licences of nod32.  Later I would have issues with how deeply embedded  Notron was into my machines regardless of it being installed it would still have processes going on in the background.  When you uninstall a program it should remove all parts of it, and you should not need to go to their site to get something to uninstall everything.  Nod32 would come to seem like the perfect solution after the many issues I had with Norton.

Nod32 – a Firewall that does not remember

My first problem started with the 2010 version of eset’s anti-virus firewall because it was more picky then usual.  I have a Cisco-Linksys Media Center Extender, that until last year never had a problem with firewalls (that and it never had problems with registry program cleaners til last year either).  I thought that if I having it ask me to accept if a program or device could use the network would solve it.   I can’t tell you how annoying it is to have to go between rooms getting the device up and then having to wait on your firewall to ask if its ok.  It only got more annoying with Nod32 started asking for Microsoft programs and other programs it should have already had rules set up for to let through.  Every update seem to mess with my media extender, as it forgot that I made it clear every time that it was ok, and to use the check box to remember my choice every time as opposed to asking me .  For that matter at several points nod32 was blocking access to my network drive.  The worse came in the fall of last year when it blocked every one of my computers from using home network and the internet.   Practically a whole day was spent cleaning up that mess.

The fire wall was at this point my biggest issue, and I had entertained the idea of just using Windows own firewall versus Nod32’s.  But the worst was yet to come at the end of last month.

The straw that broke the camels back with Nod32

I was in the progress of fixing an order with dell on 1 of two machines I had ordered.  I was chatting away with a tech after getting a new system configured after multiple extended delays by dell.  When all of a sudden I got a weird message about my computer being hacked, and another so-called anti-virus was trying to install itself.  The only thing I could do was either accept the installation of this software or kill the power to the machine.  Starting my machine back up started the process all over again and my background of a large cactus bloom was replaced by a you have been hacked screen.    I of course killed the power again.    Luckily it was my Acer laptop where nothing important is stored, and any passwords I had used on this machine were changed.  This was a machine that I use mostly to compose, chat, and edit pictures.  This gave me a reason to install a bigger drive on this machine.  I took the drive out and scanned it for viruses with node32 on another machine and was horrified to find how badly the machine had been infected, never mind that I did a scan a few days ago as I do with all my machines on my regular Sunday maintenance schedule. Nod32 had found nothing. Yet the worst was yet to come.

Further scans by another company had found that all my machines had been infected in one way or another.  I think the worst machine to find infection on was my media machine.  I don’t use it for email, chatting, or browsing.  Asides for Netflix, Amazon’s Unboxed service, Windows updates, and downloading a new tv schedule I am rather baffled to how this machine had been infected.

Currently I am testing out PCtools, which at the moment has replaced my registry cleaner from Uniblue.  If it meets with my approval it will replace Nod32 for my approved virus protection.  Unless of course someone can tell me their own horror stories behind Pctools.  Regardless of the fact I have 1.2 more years on my current licences I can no longer trust the safety of my machines to Nod32 a program that is not actively protecting my machines.  I simply can not trust software that can not run a firewall with out hassle, or allow multiple intrusions over a short period of time.

I can no longer recommend NOD32, or any other eset products.

Netfirms.com acquired by Endurance International Group

Netfirms.com, is not exactly a host the I had in my sights.  But one of their customers contacted me because they got an email telling them that the company had been taken over, upon further review the customer found the new owner is Endurance International Group which is a company that is in my sights as it has a lot of hosts, most of which engage in over the top affiliate commission’s which in turn motivate the so called “top host” lists.  Thankfully the customer that has posted to my blog was willing to send me a copy of the email, I tend to wonder if this is the same email that goes out to all customers that are acquired by Endurance International Group.    This is the first EIG acquisition that is openly acknowledged. On top of that migrations are not always smooth, Host4life comes to mind.  I had meant to post this sooner, but I had to set up a new machine, not to mention my copy of Photoshop went bonkers.

For details in to why Endurance International Group: https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/endurance-international-group/endurance-international-group-inc.html

The Netfirms email

I am pleased to announce that Netfirms will soon be transitioning to a new hosting platform, allowing you to benefit from:

  • Increased network security and a larger systems operations team, providing additional performance monitoring.
  • More disk space and data transfer for hosting accounts.
  • A new control panel with improved layout and navigation, custom designed from the ground up, based on user feedback.
  • Access to more than 200 tools and services for managing your website, domains and email, including more one-click application installs.

Plus, the new architecture is similar to our current clustered hosting technology in that your website and applications will continue to be distributed across a pool of servers, providing greater redundancy than traditional shared hosting platforms, with faster load times and fewer disruptions.

What You Need To Do

In the weeks and months ahead, we will be working very hard to make this transition a successful one. As with any change, there will be differences in the way you manage your account, and we will need you to be involved in the migration of your website and email. Not to worry, though: we will be in frequent communication with you to walk you through the process.

If you have any questions in the meantime, be sure to visit our transition information site, where you’ll find the most up-to-date information on the migration. We will continue to update the site with new information as it happens. Also, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling 866-317-4678 (press “1” for information regarding the transition) or emailing [email protected].

Please note: as part of the transition, domains will be transferred from the Netfirms registrar account to a registrar account with Tucows. Partnering with a company to manage the registrar side of things will allow us to focus on improving our core hosting services. This transfer will have no effect on your domains or where they point, and you will continue to manage your domains through your Netfirms control panel, just as you do today. More details >>

Why We’re Changing Platforms

We started Netfirms 13 years ago with a goal of delivering top-notch hosting and domain services to as many people as we could. Today, with 1.2 million hosted domains, we can’t help but be proud of how far we’ve come — and how far you’ve taken us. And now it’s time to take the next step: bringing our vision, our passion and our support to even more people in the coming years.

To help us take that next step, one of the top web hosting and domain management teams in the industry has acquired the Netfirms hosting and domain business. We realized that we needed a more scalable infrastructure, and that moving to an existing hosting platform, with proven reliability, would cause far less disruption to customer accounts than developing a solution in-house.

Please take a moment to review our revised Terms of Service, which will take effect on April 1, 2011. When customer accounts are migrated to the new hosting platform, which is located in the United States and managed by the new owners, customer data will, of course, continue to be hosted on a secure and confidential basis. Please review the new Netfirms privacy policy if you have any concerns.

The new Netfirms team has been in the business even longer than we have, and we trust them not only to continue providing the great service you’ve come to expect, but also to offer a variety of new features to help you better manage your websites and domains. More importantly, they have a proven track record of delivering on the same vision that we’ve all worked toward for the past 13 years.

We appreciate your ongoing support, and we understand that you, our customers, have made Netfirms the company it is today. On behalf of the entire Netfirms team, I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Thomas Savundra, CEO Netfirms

I recommend reading those links in the email if your a netfirms.com customer.

“Unused Domain Credits
If you currently have one or more credits for a new domain name registration, we encourage you to use them prior to March 15, 2011. Outstanding credits will not be carried over to the new hosting platform automatically. Reinforce your brand identity or protect yourself against visitor misspellings by using your domain credits to register alternate domain names.”

I don’t think I have ever seen a point where Endurance International Group has acknowledged buying a host before.  I suspect Netfirms is the first.

If your with Netfirms.com you have to help them with the migration

If you want an example of an Endurance International Group migration, look up host4life.  From what I have seen most of the customers.

I would love to hear from people experiencing a migration from netfirms.

Webhostingstuff.com – February 2011 top 25 list in review

webhostingstuff.com added 4 hosts I have not reviewed before February 2011.  This has been a bit of a strange month since there has been at one point 19 hosts, and at most 24 hosts.  I have to wonder if this odd oversight may be a sign that they are losing out on people that pay for advertising.  This time around 1 high end host, one mid / maybe small host, and one new host, and one new host that appears to be on an aged domain.

A sum of the 4 new hosts I found on webhostingstuff.com

Webhostingpad.com – Number 3 of Webhostingstuff.com’s top 25

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/webhostingpad-com.html

Webhostingpad.com – When 3 out 5 star Customer Service will do

I am not sure the point the point of covering this host, there is a lot of negative feed back for this site.  Even Alreadyhosting.com one of many affiliates has stated they don’t like this company (though this was affiliate commissions related).

Comforthost.net – Number 10 and 11 of Webhostingstuff.com’s top 25

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/comforthost-net.html

Comforthost.net – responsible citizen of the Internet?

The answer to that is no, they are not a responsible citizen.  For that matter they offer no guarantee.  Instead:

Important Notice: *All Payments To ComfortHost.NET Are Non-Refundable* ComfortHost.NET is a brand of Foroquimica SL.(“The Company”) who agrees to furnish services to the Customer, under ComfortHost.NET brand, subject to the following TOS (Terms of Service). Use of ComfortHost.NET Service constitutes acceptance and agreement to ComfortHost.NET’s AUP as well as ComfortHost.NET’s TOS (Terms of Service).

Spacenets.com – Number 12 of Webhostingstuff.com’s top 25

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/spacenets-com.html

Spacenets.com – 30 days or less to top host

They claim to have been under hostm2.com, but decided to go with spacenets.com ( a domain they registered Oct, 24, 2010) for better name recognition.  Frankly I think hostm2.com is a better domain.  But the funny thing is hostm2.com does not appear on webhostingstuff.com.

If you choose to go with this company you should pay special attention to their terms of service:

webhostingstuff

Hosthttp.net – Number 13 of Webhostingstuff.com’s top 25

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/hosthttp-net.html

Hosthttp.net – Severing the online community since 2004 or 2011?

What can I say about this site other then I believe its a aged domain.  Honestly when I did this review I strayed from the point of actually looking at the site.  My disinterest into looking at this site stems from the fact that many sites I use to look at traffic history have nothing for this site.  It copies spacenets.com in many ways.  An over the top affiliate system like most of the hosts.  After that I ended up exploring the possibility that webhostingstuff.com is basing their traffic popularity of of Alexa.

webhostingstuff

Webhostingstuff.com’s Traffic Popularity versus Alexa traffic Rank

For a while now I thought that maybe the traffic “popularity score, was a rip off of Alexa.  So far it does not look to far from the truth.  Clearly traffic popularity still plays no part in if a host is in the top 25.

1. Hostgator.com – Alexa Rank: 239 –WHS traffic Popularity: 3 of 15,718
2. Arivxe.com – Alexa Rank: 5,670 – WHS traffic Popularity: 73 of 15,718
3. Webhostingpad.com – Alexa Rank: 5,816 – WHS traffic popularity: 74 of 15,718

5. Site5.com – Alexa Rank: 4,544 – WHS traffic popularity: 64 of 15,718

9. Scalahosting.com –  Alexa Rank: 144,199 – WHS traffic popularity – 900 of 15,718
10 & 11. Comforthost.net – Alexa Rank: 402,328 – WHS traffic popularity: 2,249 of 15,718
12. Spacenets.com – Alexa Rank: 1,259,171 – WHS traffic popularity: 3,725 of 15,718

This month with my re-review of ioxhost.co.uk I have been told that I should go after bigger fish.  The reason I do not leave webhostingstuff.com alone is because they were a king maker, and now they are fish out of water gasping for breath.  I am not stopping till Webhostingstuff reforms or is out of business.

Hosthttp.net – Severing the online community since 2004 or 2011?

Hosthttp.net is my Forth and Last host review of 4 hosts for February 2011 webhostingstuff.com’s top 25.  This is pretty much a repeat of the last review.  In regards to a website that appears to have just come online.  So I guess I will follow the same formula.  The one big difference between these two hosts is this host’s domain was purchased back in 2004.   I think this is a aged domain, because it does not appear by any of the sources I check to see the traffic of a site that this site has been active until last month.  Webhostingstuff.com only started keeping track of the uptime as of January 30, 2011.  Sure I mentioned this was not really a domain that I think was a wise choice.  Sometimes I think people choose a domain just because its short rather it has any meaning at all or not.  Several of the host I have reviewed fall in that category.

So what does webhostingstuff.com have to say about Hosthttp.net?

From the about page I get a few things.

1. There not quite aware of what SEO and search engine submission is.   One merely submits your site to search engines, but that does not guarantee traffic.  The other depends on several key factors about the site that make it liked by search engines.  Granted my SEO expertise is limited to the help I get from people I pay and the advice I have been getting.  But I know enough to know that they are using SEO merely to draw people in like myself that may not know better.

2. That phone number is not valid, I tried to call it myself and I got an invalid number.

3.  The rank of 4,207 out of 15,718 (it was 15,722 but it seems Webhostingstuff.com is in the middle of cleaning house) sites seems a strech, though I have to wonder if webhostingstuff.com is basing traffic popularity off of Alexa Rank.  Remember the lower the number the better.

webhostingpad.com Alexa Rank 5,816 WHS traffic popularity 74 of 15,718
Comforthost.net Alexa Rank 402,328 WHS traffic popularity2,249 of 15,718
Spacenets.com Alexa Rank 1,259,171WHS traffic popularity 3,725 of 15,718
Hosthttp.net Alexa Rank 1,004,442 WHS traffic popularity 4,207 of 15,718

Its pretty close.  Just in case you think that the popularity some how computes into validating this top 25 list you should see the first post I did that looked into webhostingstuff traffic popularity.

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/michael-low.html

Also lets look at siteground.com since they are on this top 25 list with hosthttp.net.

Siteground.com Alexa Rank 1,464 WHS traffic Popularity: 18 of 15,718

Turns out that Siteground has a phenomenally lower rank then Hosthttp.net, for that matter is lower then webhostingpad.com.

Just for kicks lets look at Hostgator

Hostgator.com Alexa Rank 239 WHS traffic Popularity: 3 of 15,718

And for more kicks how about two hosts that do not appear on the top 25

Godaddy.com Alexa Rank 67 WHS traffic Popularity: 2 of 15,718

Yahoo.com Alexa Rank 4 WHS traffic Popularity: 1 of 15,718

So far there is only two sites out of all of those I listed that do not tell me that webhostingstuff.com is not basing their own traffic popularity off Alexa.

Hosthttp.net uptime

By the time I found this host it had not even been online for a month.    For some reason none of my friends have been able to get me a screen shot of the webhostingstuff.com uptime for hosthttp.net, so I am going to just post what I can get from Google’s cache.  This site just started being monitored within days of me finding it on webhostingstuff.com.   That “advertising” really must pay off.

I have to ask how did Hosthttp end up on webhostingstuff top 25 (like I really need to ask)?

Spacenets.com – 30 days or less to top host

Spacenets.com is my Third host review of 4 hosts for February 2011 webhostingstuff.com’s top 25.  Zero reviews with webhostinstuff.com had me asking one question, which was how long had this host been active.   Some hosts that I have reviewed with zero reviews had been online for more then 10 years.  But since November 2010 I have found hosts that just started up.  This is one of those hosts.  Webhostinstuff.com indicates that this host has been monitored since January 19, 2011.   I found this host on webhostingstuff’s top 25 at the beginning of the month.  So less then 30 days they some how managed to be a top host.

This host is so new that complete.com has no data for them.

http://siteanalytics.compete.com/m/profiles/site/spacenets.com/nodata/

About the only place I can find any information about this new host is websitefigures.com.

http://www.websitefigures.com/site/spacenets.com

Spacenets.com was formerly Hostm2.com

When I look at the “Why us?”, I find what amounts to a filler of an answer as to why.  Yet priority number one seems to be privacy.   I have found only a few hosts that may actually give out their customers information.  What Endurance Group International does, is not technically selling customer information.  Even though those customers are part of an appeal to another form of customers.   They use their hosting customers as a source to advertise to, hence why they like buying out other companies to increase their  audience.

The support spill they give is nothing special, it pretty much what most hosts offer.  For that matter thats about the same as what godaddy offers.  Though with Godaddy you can actually call them to speed things up.

The “About Us…” part leads to hostm2, but their not clear on the domain.  I guessed right when I guessed it was a .com because the whois tells me that domain is pointing to this host.

   Domain Name: HOSTM2.COM
   Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
   Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
   Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com
   Name Server: NS1.SPACENETS.COM
   Name Server: NS2.SPACENETS.COM
   Status: clientDeleteProhibited
   Status: clientRenewProhibited
   Status: clientTransferProhibited
   Status: clientUpdateProhibited
   Updated Date: 07-feb-2011
   Creation Date: 23-sep-2008
   Expiration Date: 30-sep-2011

I have to wonder if this host will make the mistake in letting their domain go, or will they keep it active so that any customers familar with them under this name will find them.

http://siteanalytics.compete.com/hostm2.com/

I find no mention of this host with webhostingstuff.com.  But there is this handy little uptime report

The Spacenets.com affiliate program

http://www.spacenets.com/affiliates#

At this time the Affiliate program appears to be in the works.  There is no agreement to read.  But from what I can see This almost seems like a copy of many of the hosts out there that are in the so called “top” ten lists.  Payouts of $75 per payout, and V.I.P section thats not upfront about what you get if you get more then 10 sales a month.  I would suggest avoiding being a direct affiliate and go with Commission Junction or cj.com, where you have someone that will ensure you get paid.

Spacenets.com Cancellations

http://www.spacenets.com/terms

If you need a reason not to give these guys your credit card or checking account here it is:

Cancellations

Shared Web-Hosting Accounts: If you wish to cancel your services, you must write to sales or request a Cancellation from your clientarea.

If you cancel your account and your payments still continue for any reasons such as

1) by fault of Spacenets staff

2) by fault of the payment processor

3) by fault of any other payment collection company

we are not responsible for any overdraft fees that are issued by your financial institution.

There is more in the terms of service, which I recommend reading before signing up for service with this company.

It really is too soon for Spacenets to be declared a top 25 host regardless of what webhostingstuff says.

Comforthost.net – responsible citizen of the Internet?

Comforthost.net is my Second host review of 4 hosts for February 2011 webhostingstuff.com’s top 25.  Considering many times my posts show how rushed for time I am.  In some cases bad spelling, or worse I make  grammatical errors.  Some times my mistake is doing these posts before my morning coffee.  I am not saying this post will be perfect.  But something seems off about this host and much of the text seems off.  The site seems to be missing something that I can’t quite figure out.  The design is so so.   But I have to ask, what amount of guarantee do you get with this site?  Its not on the main page, and its not on the product page where you would expect to see such details.  As always I suggest in no less then a 30 day guarantee.  If a host does not offer at least 30 days, then you should steer clear of that hosting company.

Clearly this is a host in need of someone to edit it.  There is a big difference between a blog like mine, and a business site.   Between a freeware chat program and a free theme  and paid theme and chat system.  I can’t help but think perhaps instead of spending money on webhostingstuff.com “advertising” perhaps they should focus on improving their own site.

Strolling through their site, and skimming through knowlegdge base I some how come to the terms of service where I find the claim “Comforthost.NET is a responsible citizen of the Internet”.

Is Comforthost.NET a responsible citizen of the Internet?

http://www.comforthost.net/billing/knowledgebase/161/TOS.html

I am not sure how any responsible host would pay for “advertising” with webhostingstuff.com.

As such, we feel it is important to ensure that our customers adhere to our policies to ensure that their respective business and surfing is completely legal and ethical.

Ethical is not doing business with any review site, just to make yourself look like a top host.

Oh but I said something was not right with comforthost.net

Perhaps the location explains why the English is off, even though the site is hosted in the U.S.  The owner of  the site resides in Spain.

So what about that 30 day guanrantee / 100 % uptime with Comforthost.net

A little chat with Comforthost.net

There are several things that bothered me about this host.  No up front guarantees,  vague mentions of a money back guarantee – even though the terms of service state no refunds. A support ticket system that has no login to use.  Simply a “security code” to avoid spam.  I realize the chat system says tech support.  My techs could answer the questions that I ask in this  chat, but then again they did not have to scramble to find what I asked.

If Comforthost were a responsible citizen of the internet, they would not be buying advertising from webhostingstuff.

Webhostingpad.com – When 3 out 5 star Customer Service will do

Webhostingpad.com is my First host review of 4 hosts for February 2011 webhostingstuff.com’s top 25.  As I stated this is not the first time I have encountered this host.   Frankly I am not going to have any trouble proving they don’t deserve to be in the top 25.   More so I will have an issue of where to start.  Frankly this is like shooting fish in a barrel with a missile hanging over the barrel.  Its one of those companies its not hard to find negative results while looking for results in search engines.  For that matter I found one of those so called review sites, allreadyhosting.com complaining about them on webhostingtalk.com about their affiliate payouts.  Last time I looked at this company it was because greenvillehost.com.

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/greenvillehost-com-and-webhostingpad-com.html

Another hosting company that was greenwashing.  I found the connection between the two when I was looking at the awards, which lead me back to webhostingpad.com.  For some reason it was ok to share awards between two sites.

So where to begin with webhostingpad.com?

You go to almost any review site its not hard to find negative reviews about this host.  For that matter I even found a hosting review site that was complaining about them.  Alreadyhosting.com at webhostingtalk.com.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-934275.html

“I too have had a lot of trouble with the WebHostingPad affiliate program, I have not been very impressed with them in the past but recently they got a new affiliate manager. The new manager seems to respond a lot more quickly than the old one; however, I still think they have a lot of work to do.”

Despite this not being impressed forum post with this host, they still have a page up saying:

“Editor’s Review of WebHostingPad

WebHostingPad has caught our eye and continues to receive higher rankins on our website! The price of hosting through this site is exceptionally low. WebHostingPad is known for their promotional pricing, during their promotional periods I think it is fair to say that WebHostingPad offers the best value web hosting.

If you have researched the web you will find that this web host has received nothing but exceptional reviews. Customers have complimented WebHostingPad, many reviews discuss their great customer support and pricing. I could only find one availiable hosting plan which may be a downside for some; however, overall this is a great host!”

http://www.alreadyhosting.com/reviews/webhostingpadreview.php

Though even on this page you can find negative feed back:

“Well..Just another victim of this hosting company. Really regretted signing up with them. So my advice to anyone reading reviews about this company. Signing up is a definite no no. Don’t settle for cheap rate and threaten services just because their plans are cheap. You will get ripped off more at the end of the day.

ben, Wed Feb 09, 2011”

Webhostingpad.com and the Better Business Bureau

At the time I was doing my review on greenvillehost.com I found that Webhostingpad.com rating with the Better Business Bureau had the following:

Currently they have their BBB record is back up, but they have a “C” rating.  At some points it was a F according to some negative  reviews.

But what about Webhostingstuff.com webhostingpad.com reviews

195 reviews, and yet they average 3 out of 5 stars on customer service, worst yet the same rating on Uptime and Reliability.

web-hosting-top.com has this company at a 2.7 out of 5 out of 83 reviews.

Is there anyone that does not have negative feed back about Webhostingpad.com?

http://www.hostingsthatsuck.com/webhostingpad-sucks/

Ok hostingsthatsuck.com has sort of a not negative review.  But I think the most striking thing is that per ussual when they find out something bad they have:

“Updated (Our Alternative Recommendation)

If you have tried and think that this web hosting service is just not right for you, we recommend that you try inMotion hosting instead. Our inMotion hosting review as well as other reviews on the internet about them has been very positive indeed.”

I know that hostingsthatsucks.com pre-approves comments because they have yet to approve any of my comments on zyma.com.

I could go on about webhostingpad, but there is a clear reason not to trust them or webhostingstuff.

Webhostingstuff.com – February 2011 top 25 well I mean 24 list

This is a bit of an odd month to review webhostingstuff.com.  I am not referring to I7net coming back, though it would be fun if it did.   But at various points this month I found that this so called review site that  inspired this site had less then 25 hosts, in fact at one point it had only 19.   Though the only point where it was 19 was an iPad.  Perhaps Michal Low did not design for Apple Safari internet browser?  But every snap shot I got of webhostingstuff.com from this month has had one host in the the 10th and 11th spot. Keep in mind I have been getting screen shots from about 10 different sources. After 16 days (perhaps longer) I figured this would be fixed.

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/webhostingstuff-top-25-or-is-it-24-or-is-it-19.html

Also its worth noting ioxhost.co.uk is now off the top 25 (well 24) list once again.  I got flack from for posting the owner’s emails to me because he decided to go back to webhostingstuff.com, and choose to ignore my emails asking why.  Despite the threats and lack of reading by many of the fans of ioxhost.co.uk my last review of their site will be my grading system review, which I still need to work on.  I have been told that I should go after bigger fish.  If a lie is small or a lie is big, its still a lie.  Webhostingstuff.com was one of those king makers of hosting review sites, now its so desperate that it will allow one of the new hosts on my list to be online for less then 6 months.  But to be clear I never accused ioxhost.co.uk of fake reviews, I had my suspicions because of the whois, however the owner explained that with the lose of the original domain.  However nothing ethical or logical can explain why they were on the top 25.

Webhostingstuff.com a surface review of February 2011 top 25

Webhostingstuff top 1 – 10 most popular hosting companies

Its worth noting that Hostgator.com is at 39 reviews, for such a large host its amazing that they have not had any new reviews since I first started my own reviews.  As stated its my opinion that webhostingstuff.com has hostgator on their site as an affiliate.  I tend to question rather whs is screening comments before allowing them to post.  You would think for such a large review site they could tell you how many reviews they get in a day.

Myhosting.com is now off the top 25 list, rather short amount of time for a host that is popular in many so called top 10 sites.

The other notable thing is that iweb Technologies Inc has a 3 star out of 5 rating.

Webhostingpad.com – Number 3 of WHS’s top 25

The two things that I find a problems is out of 48 reviews they got 3 out of 5 stars on Uptime and Reliability as well as Customer Service.

Not the first time I have mentioned this company, but its the first time that I have found them on this top 25 list.

https://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/webhostingstuff-com/greenvillehost-com-and-webhostingpad-com.html

You can find this host on many so called top 10 sites.

But this qoute from allreadyhosting.com

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/index.php/t-934275.html

“I too have had a lot of trouble with the WebHostingPad affiliate program, I have not been very impressed with them in the past but recently they got a new affiliate manager. The new manager seems to respond a lot more quickly than the old one; however, I still think they have a lot of work to do.

04-22-2010, 03:58 PM”

I think I will look into their affilate program.

Comforthost.net – Number 10 of WHS’s top 25

4 reviews, all five stars.  Granted my first thought was to look at this host.  I hate being a nit picker on grammar and spelling, as some of my posts are far from perfect.  But some of the text does not sit right with me.  Review wise they have 1 review back in November 2010, before that it was December 2009.  Off the top of my head I don’t think the review look fishy because they are spread out over the coarse of 3 years.  But I will be looking at them to see if the people that posted the reviews are still with this host.

This host shows up in both the 10th and 11th spot.

Webhostingstuff top 11 – 20 most popular hosting companies

2 new host, and one host that was in the 10th spot is in the 11th spot.  Infinite Networks has a 2 star out of 5 rating, and Yaspe has just one review.

Spacenets.com – Number 12 of WHS’s top 25

Zero reviews has me asking one question, how long have they been online?

The creation date for this host is October 24, 2010.  Another host that will be on my watch since they are new, and find themselves on the top 25 (well 24)

Hosthttp.net – Number 13 of WHS’s top 25

I really hate to say a host name is lame, but this is a poor choice.  Sure its 8 letters, its also a domain that was created in 2004 all of which are a plus.  But most people even know what http means?  If you want to know what it means, it stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol.  Zero reviews and traffic popularity of #4,207 tells me that the it may be a old host, but its not doing much to attract attention.  Also that phone number you see above, its not a valid phone number.

Interestingly they have no data at http://siteanalytics.compete.com/m/profiles/site/hosthttp.net/nodata/

Webhostingstuff top 21 – 25 most popular hosting companies

The last 5 on this picture have either no reviews, 1 review, or 3 stars rating.

Here is hoping I can finish reviewing 4 new hosts with webhostingstuff before the end of this month.
