Review Arvixe. Is arvixe.com a bad host? Arvixe Sucks? Complaints?

Back in the early years of my self-employment, my business partner and I would brain storm with domains. Though I think it was more of a war of philosophies. Alot of the time I would buy the domains I thought had value, though admittedly I have close 500 domains that are doing nothing, over 10 years.  He never would have bought a domain like yahoo.com or google.com. I would, I like that they are unique yet easy to spell, and not to mention stick in your mind. My philosophy had always been to make it memorable, not always short, and make sure it can be spelled with out much thought.. His would be some sort of business philosophy he picked up from forums and other so called “gurus”. But I think we can both agree this is not a domain either of us would have picked. While it fits my desire of short, I doubt people that first see the domain are going to remember how to spell it on the fly. After all what is a arvixe? It seems that they have the monopoly on the term and its probable made up.

But before I go any further into how I think a domain should be, that’s really not something in relation to bad hosts.   They have an affiliate program like the first three, but they are not on commission junction. Which means they are another high payout, that encourages tons of crap when you try to look for information on a webhost.

What I found in regards to search engine results about arvixe is disturbing.

http://www.yelp.com/topic/redwood-city-bad-review-and-complaint-about-arvixe-com-web-hosting-company-and-godaddy-com

In a nut shell customer tried to order service from a site that promises 24 / 7 tech support and prompt set up of order. After not receiving the order the customer tried to contact the company during a day and could not reach anyone. I can’t say I would not be alarmed after giving my credit card information to a company that had no one to contact. So customer went to yelp.com to complain. Arvixe choose to to counter response, and apparently their response to their customer was so inappropriate yelp.com deleted it. For the most part the other reviewers were with the person who posted the complaint. When someone brought up complaining to the BBB, Arvixe was quick to state the person was not a customer because they did not take their money. Not to mention argued the point that they never signed up. As far as I can tell they never addressed the inability to be contacted. Perhaps this person is lying, but there is nothing that indicates that they were. But as far as I am concerned, until you tell someone their order was declined after taking their credit card the person is a customer. Simply not responding to their emails or phone calls…….. hiding from them is not an indicator that someone is not a customer. I wonder what their merchant would think of this philosophy.

Then on their own forum.

http://forum.arvixe.com/smf/general/what-is-meant-by-ddos-when-applied-to-arvixe/?wap2

One of their customers found complaints about dos (Denial of Service) attacks. The customer wanted clarification. Arvand who seems to appear where ever there is a complaint did not treat this person like a customer, but more of an attacker. Ever where I see Arvixe complaints that allow for posting, I find Arvand attacking the negative feed back. I wonder if the customer signed up for 2 years, I know I would not. It it was me I would have stated when the last dos attack was, and what we do to prevent them and if in the rare case they get through what we do to fix it. Because this post and every post Arvand has gone against only add more fuel in not buying from them. This was defiantly not a place to be defensive, this was a time to give a customer cool and calm response.

My question is when do they have problems do they take responsibility for them, or are they going to attack the customer that asks what the cause of the problem is. I have said things in the heat of the moment I wish I had not said, but I can count on one hand the amount of times over 11 years. But that is not the case for this company. Instead its a policy of attacking the customer, and I don’t see much point in reviewing a company that engages in such a philosophy any further.

Bottom line, I don’t recommend this host. Even if they were not using over the top affiliate payouts and sites like webhostingstuff.com (Traffic Popularity: #77 of 10,293 companies) to get a position that was not earned. Their responses to problems is not acceptable, and I tend to wonder what problems are going on behind the scenes when every response is a defense mode. I don’t see much point in further review of this company, or future reviews unless they change their philosophy of attacking the messenger.  There is no point in hosting with a company like this.

  1. @Admin : Message to you since i cant seem to find ur email id!

I seem to be enjoying your posts thought at times a bit lengthy.
I have had accounts with most major companies and being a coder i get a even better opportunity and i can relate with your reviews! especially the one about how review sites are so easily bought out.

Can you do a little research on stablehost.com? I got an account with them recently and they seem to be pretty good. They don’t have a chat which is a major draw back but i managed to get decent response times on their support tickets. I could probably write a review on them after some time when i have been there long enough!

  2. Hello again Shankar,

I am actually trying to limit myself by how much I put out, there is a lot of information out for webhosts that use fake reviews and high payouts that encourage affiliates to drown out there negative feedback. For that matter my second review kept me from posting because I kept finding more information, which is why I decided to limit myself to 2 hours per post. I will revisit these companies later.

Currently I am working on the top 25 listed on webhostingstuff.com, hostgator is next on my list.

I spent a couple of seconds looking over stable host. Space seems a little high, but on the bright side there are no unlimited space packages. Their affiliate program does not seem that high, and more reasonable then the hosting companies in the top 25 on webhostingstuff.com. https://billing.stablehost.com/knowledgebase/81/Do-you-have-an-affiliate-system.html

Unfortunately their affiliates are also working on drowning out negative feedback. this can only be avoided by a terms of service (tos) in their affiliate agreement. While no one likes negative feed back about their company, drowning it out with affiliates is not exactly going to encourage someone like myself to buy.

  3. I’m not Arvand, and I’m not a fan of Arvixe, but I’m a big fan of fair is fair, and the fact is, the Rocky dude you’re basing your criticism on has no grounds to complain about Arvixe service.

The dude placed an order, there was a problem with the order, and it did not get fulfilled in a short time.

    ZOMG IT TOOK 15 HOURS!!!!!111!11!!
    Oh the horror!
    Oh the calamity!
    THINK OF THE CHILDRENNNZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

Jesus, give it a rest, Rocky.

Why did it take the INSANELY OUTRAGEOUSLY LONG TIME OF FIFTEEN HOURS for him to get a response about his order? Who the hell knows? Maybe the guy’s credit card was declined? Maybe someone made a typo? Maybe
the evil alien robots decided to interfere?

If you believe Rocky, then probably Arvixe’s employees were all attending the weekly company infant sacrifice and blood drinking orgy.

It doesn’t matter. The fact is, Rocky went on a rant over an order that was never filled, and started talking about being ripped off when he didn’t even have to pay.

Rather than just dropping the subject, he went on a crusade to start trashing the company all over the place, going on and on about their horrible service and support. Service and support he never even used. Not once. Not Ever. The guy never had a site hosted with them.
    Not even for one second.

How can he possibly judge their hosting without having ever USED that hosting? The guy got pissed about a single screwup, and started a vendetta against Arvixe that is still going to this day. He’s a freakin’ psycho.

The fact is, things sometimes don’t work perfectly, and anyone who flies off the handle into a blind rage over something as simple as a delayed order really needs to be on thorazine. Rocky, I’m talking to you, dude. Get some drugs.

Arvixe might suck, but you will never know, because you never even tried it.

Now as for Armand himself, yeah, he is a douchebag. He’s very quick to take offense at anything he sees as criticism of his company, and he sucks at accepting constructive criticism. But at least he does cares enough about his company’s reputation to GET defensive.

Armand, you really need to take criticism a bit better, dude, not every complaint is a personal slap in your face. If someone says “I like your service, but there’s one thing you should change…” your first reaction should not be to defend that one thing. It should be to politely thank the person for the constructive criticism. If you want to bitch about the complaint offline, feel free, but don’t do it in public.

  4. 15 hours without being able to reach anyone is not acceptable, especially when the company claims 24 / 7 service. If anything your making the same mistake that Armand did and villainizing the reviewer. The reviewer was well with in their rights to review their interaction or lack of it.

There is absolutely no justification for Armand’s behavior. It could have been handled better. One example would be not trying to make the possible customer look like a liar.

I have orders that have been lost in the past, the best that can be done is to scavenge the customer. I have gotten customers to delete their negative feedback an actually be a customer by being diplomatic. This is one of those cases I don’t want to treat the customer like a villain. Nor leave a trail of crap on the internet that detours customers from signing up from me for service with another company. Frankly WeaselSpleen and Armand your comments on the review are over the top and unjustified.

  5. This is my second year with Arvixe and since the beginning they are pushing me to upgrade my account,
I’m using 2 hosting provider and in both hosting providers account I’m using the same applications and same versions.

This is the 3rd time Arvixe is sending me an email telling me some application on 2 websites are using too much memory resource and they suggest to upgrade my account because they may cancel my account if this is not fix.

The first time I ask for cancel my account and have my money back but they decline to do that, so I decide just move the website to my other service provider, and they don’t said anything else.

But now one month after I pay my second subscription, they are sending me another email asking me to upgrade my account because the applications on 2 of my websites are using too much memory resource.

I believe that’s not the right way to sell some services to one customer, they wait until I pay my services to complain and pushing me to buy another service.

I ask for my money back and I will close my account, they may don’t do that, they may want steal my money and close my account.

But this is my last year with this company,.

  6. I have to agree with Frank. I had the same experience….everything seems to take up memory on their servers. They allow 100 MB memory limit (or so they say) on their reseller plan. I have profiled my applications over and over, and have yet to hit 60 MB. They claim I am exceeding memory and the application is recycling. It recycles every 20 seconds.

Their solution: Add a machineKey to web.config so it holds onto the current session. Ya…who cares that the application is recycling 4 times a minute.

The same application is running on another web host with no issues although they claim they only allow 48 MB in a shared pool.

Arvand does seem VERY defensive and he’s very quick to blame it on everyone else but their service. “The problem is your code…not us” is a common reply.

I have also found that their customer service was great aft first, but once you start noticing issues, they seem to delay quite a bit. I would get replies within an hour or 2 at first, and then finally before I canceled my account, it would take 3-4 days.

Not impressed with their hosting at all.

  7. I’ll make this a pithy as possible: I’ve had terrible experience with Arvixe and customer support with a site down for a full ten days, required repeated IIS restarts, SQL restarts, and app pool crashes, documented proof of a server problem that could ONLY be addressed by them.

Their response (when they actually decided to respond) was to open up more service tickets, this of course, confuses whomever is next in line to deal with the ticket, because they only get part of the story and as always, it was our code that was at fault. They failed to even recognize that it was not “our code” but a new install of DNN from their Web App pack which constantly failed.

I find it interesting that Arvand spends more time trolling the web for complaints about Arvixe than he does actually doing work to ELIMINATE said complaints.

    This in itself speaks volumes.

  8. First, I have to reply to the people (WeaselSpleen) who have been defending Arvixe because the customer “Never Paid”. As far as I am concerned, when I give a company a credit card (unless it is declined) I am a customer. It is not my fault that they can’t get it right to actually charge the card.

With that said, I have been hosting with Arvie since November, 2010.

Set-up of VPS/server took two days total after many attempts.

When you use the “Chat” for tech support, 9 times out of 10, they will tell you to open a support ticket because they are not able to deal with the problem.

Submitted a ticket with “Urgent” status because they needed to access the site over the weekend. “Support” decided that PHP was configured improperly and they were going to have to re-install the OS and reconfigure PHP. This problem affected cPanel which has worked since I have become a customer and which they carge extra for. After 68+ hours, it has not been completed yet!

Finally, I pay for a Linux VPS(not a $3.00 a month shared hosting account). You would think that a client paying $600 a year would receive priority support over a client that pays $3 a month. I, also, checked the rates on the web site for my server. I found that the current price is 20% lower than I have been paying. I don’t think this is fair when I have a month-to-month account. I would expect this if I had already paid for a year.

Run, don’t walk away from Arvixe, especially if you have clients that have expectations and that they will get the tip-top service/support.

  9. Arvixe is worst when it comes to support and I too had a very bad experience. Arvixe support team is worst team ever i have seen, since they are unable to fix even small problem and the fun is when you tell them the solution, they are not even good enough to apply those things in shared hosting.

In summary if you are looking for hosting without support then Arvixe is best example.

  10. arvixe.com are one of the worst hosting companies I have ever seen, not providing support, they slow to respond, slow to put your Web site online, and if your site has problems and goes offline, you will need to wait 1 day with your site offline for a response.

    Stay away from arvixe.com

  11. Hello Bill,

Do you have a site that you had hosted with them? Your site migoos.com does not appear to have been hosted by them.

    Regards,

    Benjamin

  12. Arvixe is a horrible host. Their servers can’t even handle a normal wordpress blog saying that it consumes too much resources and pushing me into upgrading. After a few days of hosting with them my blog went down once and then again and again. I was told that wordpress is running too many processes. I checked and at anyone time there were no more than 9 processes going. And I kept getting this horrible INTERNAL SERVER ERROR

  13. I opened a support ticket on May 16 about some weird database timeouts that were happening every day at the same time. After going back and forth for over a month, I’ve finally resorted to BEGGING them to diagnose the problem since they simply won’t tell me anything. The last response from them, after providing a ton of data, charts, spreadsheets, example source code, even a complete test app that faithfully reproduces the problem, is, I quote, “there are no other customers complaining about SQL issues”. WTF?? Since then they have not responded to my pleas for help or any information whatsoever on what steps they’ve taken, if any, to diagnose or look into this problem other than “we don’t know” and “no other complaints”. Their last response was Jun 28. Since then I have responded 6 times with further data, more analysis of the problem, and, finally, literally begging for help. It has been almost THREE WEEKS since they have responded to me at all. THREE WEEKS. This is the most horrible customer service nightmare I have ever encountered. My next step is to try to find out who the CEO is and email him and beg for help. You can bet I will be dumping Arvixe and their hideous service at the earliest opportunity possible. Please DO NOT make the same mistake I made and go with someone with a decent reputation!!!

  14. Recently I had two major issues with my emails, after opening a brand new account with Arvixe, and it took over 32 hours for the tech support to even get back to me. I did loose 5 days of business and the only compensation i was given was ” we are really sorry for the inconvenience” and a $10.00 credit for the next month. Not even close of the hundreds of dollars i did not make all this time. But when i thought i would put this in the past and move forward, it happened again and the situation got worst. great product yes, but horrible and useless tech support. I left ipage.com because they didn’t support a feature a really needed and i was told to try Arvixe.com. WHAT A MISTAKE !!! They probably have more features, maybe, maybe not, but since the get go i had nothing but issues and everybody from the tech support to the sales department kept making critical mistake and the worst ? they just talk to you like it’s not a big deal !!! At this very moment now, my business is down again, it is almost 1:00 Am and i am very frustrated as a representative from Arvixe just sent me an email asking me ” not to duplicate any tech support request or it will slow down the process” … WTF ???

  15. Don’t use Arvixe. I am an honest and fair person. I have built websites for two decades. The comments I read here about Arvixe are 100% true. Arvixe customer support is available 24/7 but the support is terrible. Their customer service is very dry. You never get a response or update to a ticket that is critical. The chat tool offers you someone who doesn’t answer. Let me give you an example. I am running a very successful site which is generating good traffic. Since being with Arvixe within two weeks the site has done down 4 times or more. When I contacted Arvixe support saying that you have people using it and I need access asap I waited 15 minutes for a response to a chat that was open – all I wanted was an update like “still here”. Then my site went down and it took 2 days to get it back up. I am very forgiving but I just can’t risk using them anymore so I am having to move everything to another host which I hope is based in the US where customer service is more appreciated. Really really upset with Arvixe and I don’t get these issues with other hosting companies I use!

  16. Xperienced,

I had very similar experiences like yours. I ended up using Speakservers.com for a VPS and PacificHost.com for Video streaming services.

They both have superior support with US staff.

  17. I have 3 customers and about a hand full of domains and sites on Arvixe. Support and service was great @ first but, it’s not so good now. I have issues with support just about everytime I call now. I moved customers to Arvixe for the support and service. Now it’s time to move on. I spend 45 minutes on the phone with a MYsql issue paying my programmer by the hour and they NERVER contacted us again after the fact. When I contacted them back via support ticket they wanted me explain all over again. No thanks…

  18. These people really do suck, they agreed to help me set up something before I signed up, and afterwards dodged their agreement… Bait and switch artists, don’t use them.

  19. God! I wish I had read this before going with arvixe to setup Dolphin 7 social networking – promised free install, this actually means you going in and doing it via cpanel yourself despite ticking the ‘dolphin 7 install’ box when ordering.
I live in the UK and highlight that I am on GMT time to avoid any issues, fastest response so far from customer services is 3 working days! I went with them on the back of their customer service testimonials – bunch of crap!
I had one site with them and used their 1 click dolphin 7 install, there is no templates folder so I cannot upload the $49 template I installed. The Dolphin 7 times out or takes 10 mins+ to load a page (Wow! how many users will I get signing up….)
    To add insult to injury I went to do a recommended mod on the .ht file only to find the first four lines of code;

    # Elgg htaccess directives
    # Copyright Curverider Ltd 2008-2009
    # License http://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.html GNU Public License version 2
    # Link http://elgg.org/

Could just be me or does that look like an elgg install, queried this and told it was my fault for having installed elgg previously, but alas this was a new domain with them, unregistered previously, and a new hosting account with them. They then proceeded to deny that the .htaccess file was anything to do with them.
    DO NOT TRUST ARVIXE!

  20. I hosted with Arvixe for less than 3 months, even though I signed with them for a year. Signup was seamless, initial setup – fast, and customer service – responsive. And that’s the only good experience I had with Arvixe.

During that time my website was down for hours, responding slowly – for days (a lot of timed out requests) and generally unusable for even longer. And yes, Control Panel was inaccessible too.

First they claimed it was an application pool that kills my website. Even though all I have is a bunch of images and a simple HTML page with HTTP redirect. Re-starting the application pool from Control Panel wouldn’t do anything – every time it went down I had to contact Arvixe and they would re-start it right on the server (likely with the server itself, they never admit what they actually do there).

Finally, I got rid of website-specific application pool. Problem got even worse. Now they started telling me it was DDoS attacks that bring my website down. That’s quite a lot of DDoS attacks, considering I’ve never had one with my previous provider (who would attack an obscure photoblog about nature and hiking?).

BTW, their customer service is very responsive and polite, but not helpful at all!

After not even 3 months with Arvixe I got fed up, removed all of my content and sent a cancellation request. The next day I’ve got email from them – how can we make our service better, can we move you to another server?
No, thank you, just give me a refund.
Next day, I’m getting email from Arvixe – you are beyond 60 days period, we can’t give you a refund, we’ll give you a credit for unused time.
Why would I need your credit? What am I going to do with it?

Email exchange went on for a few days, with me asking for the refund and Arvixe offering an unusable credit. I decided enough is enough and filed a complaint with their BBB.
In 2 days I’m getting an email from Arvixe – OK we’ll give you refund if you don’t file a complaint. Mind readers they are.

Now it gets even more interesting, in 2 days my complaint was closed by Golden Gate BBB without explanation. Without even notice from them!

So here I am, with Internet being my last attempt to spread the message – stay away from Arvixe. It’s a very unreliable webhosting provider with questionable business practices and even more questionable amount of good reviews.

  21. I used arvixe to setup Dolphon 7 as they offered a free website name and automatic dolphin 7 hosting. Except when I paid even having chosen this option it wasn’t done, helpfully they take 48 hours to answer each ticket, then even more helpfully because I’m on a different time zone they closed each ticket before I could respond.
The dolphin 7 install was so bad none of the modules worked at all, and yes I got them all installed – Bit tricky to configure if you can’t access the modules though.
Then I saw people complaining about the speed of dolphin 7 and saw there was an amendment to the .htaccess file one could make. Went into it only to find it referred to “Elgg’ throughout. Raised this with dolphin and even having sent them a file they denied it was from their server, and then stated that if it was it must be from an earlier elgg install I’d done (I would point out that elgg is actually a totally different piece of software!). Pointed out that this might be a bit tricky as it was a new account with them and they’d done all of the dolphin 7 install….Total denial, accused me of lying about the .htaccess file.
Then they put the right file in place…but still chose to ignore the fact you couldn’t config the modules with out which the install is 100% unusable.

It was taking me upto 5 mins to login to the admin panel….how the hell many people did they think I was going to get signing up to my new dolphin 7 social network with that delay ???
These people should be taken to court. I suggest everyone rights to dolphin 7 and alerts them of these problems. When you are on the dolphin 7 site and it recommends a host Arvixe comes up first in the alphabet so it’s the first one most people click on.
In 12 years online this is the worst company I have ever come across AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

  22. It’s an update to my post from December 10, 2011:
Arvixe fully refunded me for the entire length of a contract, not only for unused time. It was a really nice gesture on their part.

  23. Thanks for writing how you feel. Makes a bit of honesty much appreciated.

I’m experiencing issues with them, I know it’s tough as one issue can take an excessive amount of time to fix and the cost has to be taken out of a fixed income from the sales. I also don’t know if it is my own mistake instead of their mistake. They do seem much more technically competent than some other webhosts that I’ve been with, but I’m guessing some of the deeper issues take too long to sort out (my one seems to be a deeper issue).

Basically, I’m wondering if it isn’t more a case of better customer support time-management and communication needed. I find that when they do communicate, they are very reasonably mannered and seemingly competent, though.

  24. I am now thoroughly confused.
It seems no matter which hosting compay i look at when i look at reviews they all have
    “Dont touch them tags”

    Help required!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Have to concur with a lot of the posts here. Sick and tired of a third rate service. Server constantly crashing. I would implore anyone looking for a hosting service to NOT use Arvixe

  26. I reported there bad performance to Dolphin , and pointed them towards all the comments on here. After around 2 weeks Dolphin came back to me and said they could see no problem with Arvixe. I then stopped using Dolphin as I would have no faith in a company that has its head in the sand

  27. I have host at arvixe but i have so many problems with this worst company. Today again i have big problems – databases are go on, broken, there not have everyday backups like in advertising … big nightmare. Every time i talking with support and they open support ticket, then must to wait several days to start working and resolve problems …
My advice is go away from arvixe and never, never, never host there nothig – no small, no big sites

  28. Site loading is taking 20 seconds in chrome now.Firefox is faster @15 seconds. Dont know why.

They put a limit on my service recently and upon messaging them they claim to remove that limit, but site loading is still shit. I’m already on CDN. Even a small page is a heavy resource hog for arvixe. Opening more than 2 pages at a time slows the site to death and may not even load properly. I’m moving to bluehost or hostgator.

  29. I have 7 accounts, 3 hostgator, 1 justhost, 1 hostmonster, and 2 arvixe believe me when i tell you that ARVIXE is bad, bad hosting, bad Indian outscourced support. You might as well talk to Beavis and Butthead.. The servers are slow, to answer a support ticket be prepared to wait a solid 20 hours…

Avoid Arvixe at all cost, you will regret it…

  30. I also wish I had read these reviews before I host with Arvixe! I have exactly the same problems described here! The worst with them is, over their incompetency, the support is lousy and irrespectfull as pointed above! At least, they could be kind enough when they are not so professional!
    Not so recommendable!

  31. DON’T Go with Arvixe my wordpress blog was hacked multiple times. I erased the entire wordpress installation and plugins and did a fresh install changed all my passwords made them very long and unique a combination of letter and numbers. I also hired a security firm to do a audit with they found no vulnerabilities they also installed firewall software to prevent outside attacks. 2 weeks later hacked again I found out through my website logs that the hacker logged into my site through the server itself. I can only conclude that there is a security flaw on the shared sever I was on, the arvixe staff are very rude and condescending stating it’s not their problem, if you check around other people have reported the same thing about being hacked in the same manner.

  32. I was there two years and can only say hands up and avoid this host, many words and nothing is done. The support is arrogant and not capable to resolve any problem. The sales department agree to all points of your site, only for make a contract and than after that isn’t nothing. I have lost many of my friends, perhaps they didn’t get any information about my site and news I turned around, my blog lost visitors perhaps I couldn’t inform that I posted something new and so on. Now I have to start from the beginning after two years of this lousy service.

  33. I have an account at Arvixe that receives very little traffic, but occasionally needs to run a script that dumps a few thousand records into a database. If I have the need to repeat the process, it spikes my CPU usage and shuts down all sites under the account for about 10 minutes. I’ve discussed it multiple times with support and every time I’m told to “optimize my code” or upgrade to business class or VPS. This is simply a hobby site of mine, not a huge production site, and it’s basically unusable for anything other than being seen by search engines. I never had this issue when I first signed on with Arvixe 2.5 years ago. I renewed my 2-year subscription about 5 months ago thinking I could somehow make it work (but unfortunately ignored the project for a while). I had an unrelated issue (wanted to run Drush via SSH) and spoke with support, and was told I have to upgrade to VPS to do so. Drush is much less intense than the options I currently have available. I finally went out looking for a cheap VPS solution, and what do you know, I found plenty. Came back to Arvixe to request some portion of my remaining 1.5 years of hosting be refunded and was told very quickly and rudely no refunds after 60 days. This is a scam. They hook you on cheap pricing and hopefully you don’t figure out their shared hosting is useless until after that 60 day mark. If you had faith and paid well in advance, you are screwed as they push you to the $40/mo. plan. AVOID!

  34. Hi,

I am sorry that so many people have had issues with out service. For the last 2 posts:

@Irmgard Hartmann – 2 years ago when you signed up for the account we explained that you needed a mailing plan and you did not switch. You were sending large amounts of bulk mailing from your account which is not allowed, clearly defined in our TOS.

@Chad – I am sorry for the issues you had. Would you mind sending your arvixe information to QA [@] arvixe.com. Drush can be installed on our shared servers so we would want to find out who told you that. QA would like to go over your issues and see if there is anything we can help you with.

  35. @Noah at Arvixe

Thank you for your reply. I wish I had known that about Drush after dealing with “support” for so long. Almost everything I’ve brought up is answered with a need to upgrade to “Business Class Hosting”, even for my dinky little sites. It’s a shame to see Arvixe go the way of typical hosts that grow beyond their management means.

To Arvixe’s credit, Michael Carr (QA) did out of the blue offer to refund the prorated portion of my hosting subscription, which has been done. I have moved on to another host.

  36. webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1201080

Found this when I was checking reviews for them.
I read all posts there. They are really aggressive. Avoiding to help and continues to not help customer. Really bad for them. Just read it and stay away from them.

  37. I bought 2 accounts at arvixe.com 2 years ago (2 year renewal, hosting with domains). I decided to stop using them about halfway in due to poor asp.net support compared to competitors (i.e. no VS autodeploy). I tried many hours to open support tickets to get needed components installed, but each time there was something different that broke when their support tried to install a new component. There was a general lack of asp.net understanding and they did not verify their changes, which caused live site issues for my website and several hours to respond.

I didn’t update my credit card expiration info on their website and turned off auto-renewal for all hosting accounts and domains about half a year before the site expiration date. My credit card expired several months before the renewal date and my bank issued a new credit card under the same, with a new expiration date, but I did not give arvixe this info.

I started getting e-mails from arvixe saying that my credit card expired and to update it. They also explicitly stated in the e-mails that renewal would not take place if I did not update my credit card info.

Recently I got a bill from my credit card company saying that I got double charged for my two sites. When I tried to talk to arvixe sales support about this, they said all sales are final and they could not do anything about it. My arvixe account shows a positive balance, confirming that I got double charged. Looks like they charged an expired credit card twice.

I would strongly suggest not to deal with arvixe. It’s been a waste of my time. I’ve noticed my bank of the fraudulent charges.

  38. Please ignore my last post – I got in touch with another sales representative at arvixe who agreed to refund my renewal charges.

  39. I have a few things to pick about this article.

The discussion on Arvixe’s forum was not an attack by Arvand. If you read all 3 pages, the so called ‘attack’ is on the first page only. Yes, Arvand was asking about the bad reviews. But he was by no means attacking it, he wanted to know where the customer had seen the reviews so that he could clarify the accusation and, quote: “…to get to the bottom of every single bad review to identify if they are making a good choice.

And to see a post that vaguely refers to the bad reviews (like this one originally) means they may look past Arvixe. ” -Arvand

You should read your sources properly so you don’t use them inappropriately. Also, you should update the yelp.com link as the user and his post no longer exist.

I also don’t understand why you had a go at their affiliate program. You didn’t really go into why it makes them a bad host.

So, before you write a review on a web host, how about you do some actual research instead of investigating only 2 resources, both now negligible. And instead trying to find a reason to write a negative review, find your own awful experience with a host, THEN write your opinion.

  40. Kate,

The point of this post was not that they were a bad host, but to point that they were not one of the top 25 hosts in the world. Please pay attention to what this site is about. As for my source it is one of many reviews that share the same sentiment which can be found all over the place. Also I suggest you read the review that I choose to use as a source in full. If he worked for me he would have been fired.

    Regards,

    Benjamin.

  41. i have hosted a site on arvixe.com on personal class with private tomcat. suddenly they reduced max memory limit to my user without any prior notification. they abused me to upgrade my plan to the business class which is double of charge. my app was working well on personal class and they decided to reduce memory limits at a glance. what a bad experience. their support is too bad, they don’t recognize site issues

  42. Hello !
I was so stupid to pay to arvixe near to 100$ “MONEY FOR NOTHING”
They can’t to handle one dolphin script with up to 600 unique visitors dayly. /Or cheat me for the RESOURCE USAGE – not refundable !!!!/
TO ALL : STAY AWAY FROM ARVIXE
If you want to try it:
Aways use ‘one mounth’ plans. Not cheap but secure.
In case of problems – full backup and ask for refunds….
Aways use Paypal payments. You can open dispute there if they not refund your money.
If you host some domains – is possible to be blocked many of them

  43. Hi,

    @Khaled

We have tired to reach out to you regarding this issue. We haven’t heard back from you through. Tomcat memory was not reduced but there was another issue that occurred. Once we were notified that you were having issues we fixed the issue and your site should be running fine. If you are still having issues please contact us.

    @Ivo

We do not try to “cheat” people with resource usage. There is a limited amount (while not a small amount) of CPU/RAM that can be used by each customer on the server. Having 600 unique visitors in one day is not a lot, but if they are all using the RMS video chat at one time that would use a large amount of resources. We do work with people that are having issues with resources and explain what their options are when they start using a lot of them. Also if you are within 60 days of the account we will issue a refund as we are very lenient on refunds. Have you contacted QA yet?

If anyone is having issues please contact us at QA [@] arvixe.com as they are here to make sure you are happy with your hosting and go beyond what is required to make sure the customers are satisfied.

    Regards,

  44. No complaints about the company, the servers give issues at times and seems there’s a server down a day but overall I am pleased with my decision to go with them.

  45. @Matthew’s post: Anyone reading this it is a completely fake review. The reviewer actually tired to scam Arvixe for a free account. At no point was the person harassed or lied to. Their account was approved as they created a free school account here: http://student.bfcc.edu/ . They then constantly changed their account details to meet the requirements to get a free hosting account. While they did create an e-mail account from that school, they are not a student as they reside in a different country than the school they “supposedly” go to and in a class that does not exist. We even offered to reinstate their account if they could provide information that they were actually enrolled in the class they said they were, which they were not able to. They have been posting this review as soon as we asked them for their student information. We have 1000’s of students who use our services and it is not a difficult process to verify one’s account. When someone tries to cheat our system what you read in this review is what will happen

  46. Hello Noah,

I do apologize, but that comment was meant to be marked as spam and not approved. The story was some what compelling, but the images did not back up his claim. Especially when he claims that his name is Matthew, and yet the images showed a Dhawal or just a D.

A bit of sloppiness on my part, I left the blog alone for 5 months after a move and I was preparing to approve comments among other things before my next post. But since I have your attention, you might not want Hosting-review.com as an affiliate since I am on to their tricks.

  47. While I cannot comment on others experiences, I can comment on mine. I have used 3 hosting companies over the last 9 years. My previous hosting company, who I was quite happy with, quadrupled the price for hosting when my contract ran out. The worse part of that was that it used almost 0 resources, as I had shut it down the previous year, and only used it for maintaining some email addresses. So, I looked online, and chose the Arvixe personal plan due to cost and extras, and while there were some bad reviews, there were also some good reviews from individual people. (I paid no attention to the paid (spam?) boards)

I cannot say that there were not issues…there were! Availability and stability kept getting worse and worse after about a month. I contacted their tech support multiple times, and usually they did try to help in a reasonable time frame. However, that did not stop the problems. I finally asked them to change servers, which they did. It was not a smooth transition, but we worked through it and it happened. Shortly after the move, I started having issues with functionality (MySQL down a LOT) and availability (resources not available). At this point, I figured I had made a serious mistake moving to Arvixe, because my site is a small, local interest, non-income generating site, and should not even be a blip on a decent server!

So I contacted Arvixes’ QA department. To my surprise, they were professional, friendly and concerned about my issues. They confirmed the issues, made suggestions on fixing them, and in all ways responded quickly and professionally. When it became clear that these changes/suggestions were not solving the problem, they made an offer that I accepted…a very reasonable offer. My site now runs the way I expect it to run, and I hope this will be the last issues I have. 😉

As a retired software engineer with 35+ years experience writing code, I understand that ‘stuff happens’. It is how a company responds to that ‘stuff’ that separates decent companies from the others. Arvixe responded in a manner that makes me hopeful that not only did it solve the problems, but they understand my needs. I can’t ask for much more from a company.

And no, I am NOT paid to write this stuff (they could not afford me) and am not an affiliate. I write it to offer a different take on many of the posts here. I DID get frustrated, but I expressed that frustration in a professional manner. As with all things, your mileage may vary. 🙂

  48. Arvixe is Shit !

Yesterday I paid 7 dollars, for a hosting plan.

I never received my hosting details.

By email they asked me for photographs of my visa card.

I sent messages in their support chat, and they use indians, it was an indian named yatin Thakur , and I was waiting 15 minutes for a reply.
    Never received reply.
